Sterling Main Street is proud to be a member of the City of Sterling’s Riverfront Commission.
Nearly a mile of shoreline of the Rock River lies immediately adjacent to the City’s Central Business District and provides the southern border of our “Main Street” boundaries. Following years of environmental clean up, some of which is still taking place, plans are coming to fruition for a riverfront park, amphitheater, splash pad and ice skating ribbon.
Paved paths through the prairie plantings and custom swings overlooking the Rock River are already complete and in use.

Plans are also evolving for the adaptive reuse of the historic Lawrence Hardware and National Manufacturing campuses, encompassing 15 buildings in total, with the City’s master developer Gorman & Co.
